China attracts Indian tourists, grabs top position

As mentioned by a Chinese official with over six lakh visiting various destinations China is becoming the most sought after destination for Indian tourists. The recent trends reveal that India’a outbound tourism has soared with a majority of Indians choosing China as their top destination.

By 2020 it is expected that the number of outbound tourist will go up to 50 million that will be 21.87 up in 2016 a new agency reported. In 2014 the number of Indian tourists to China was 709,900 went up by 4.6 per cent year-on-year from 2013 mentioned Tian Xin, an official from the New Delhi office of the China National Tourism Administration. In 2015, the number rose to 730,500 and in the first nine months of 2016 the number reached to 600,900.

The tourism cooperation started to strengthen between the two most populous countries in the world, China and India, since 2015. It was during the same  year ‘Visit India Year’ in China was hosted and in 2016 ‘Visit China Year’ was launched.

The countries have been working together to amplify the service quality,simplify the visa procedures and increase the direct flight frequency.

Tian further mentioned that both the countries are prone to natural advantages in tourism development with friendly people and tourism resources. The low cost of transportation is also one of the factors contributing to mutual tourism development.

However, Tian believes that there is still a room for development, China and India being neighbouring countries have good relationship. The Silk Road once connected China and India and the tourism services acts as bonds linking both the countries.
